Attorney Referrals

shaking hands with referring attorneyDuring my 45 + years as a personal injury attorney, I have many times worked with other lawyers. Injury law suits can be very complicated, and it helps to have a veteran attorney working by your side to get your clients the best recovery possible.

I have a national reputation for winning large settlements and verdicts in several practice areas, and my peers have recognized my contributions to the practice of law by naming me one of the best 100 attorneys in Washington State, among the best lawyers in America in medical malpractice law, personal injury litigation, and product liability litigation, and Super Lawyer since 1998. I’ve been named Trial Attorney of the Year by the Washington State Association for Justice, and was named Best Attorney in the South Sound by the readers of South Sound Magazine.

I would love to offer your firm my experience and knowledge to consult, strategize, co-councel, or take the lead if needed. I’ll work with you to get your clients the justice they deserve.

Past referrals

An attorney from Oregon referred a case that took place on a Washington State construction site. A crane fell on his client, a resident of Oregon, rendering him paraplegic. Just days before trial, we achieved a seven figure settlement. My legal team developed the case and handled the settlement. The referring attorney calculated damages and communicated with the client.

A Tacoma attorney referred a case in which one individual was killed, and another seriously injured, when a poorly supervised parolee caused a car accident on the Narrows Bridge. My legal team handled the case in its entirety and we received a settlement over $1 million.

I co-counseled a case for a large confidential settlement in which a seven-year-old girl was paralyzed after the vehicle in which she was riding was struck head on. I explored the potential liability and  then brought Jimmy Rogers of Seattle to take over liability and my legal team and I  calculated damages.

How referrals work

There are two ways in which we can work together.

  1. We work together and both firms are considered lead counsel. The worked is divided equally.
  2. Referring attorney prefers for me to take the lead and then chooses what type and how much involvement his or her firm has with the case.

Fee sharing

Normally fees are split with referring council according to the level of responsibility assumed. You are entrusting me with your client’s case; our fee agreement will be fair and follow the bar associations regulations.
